In Ireland this https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11533581/Christian-teacher-refused-use-gender-neutral-pronouns-remain-bars-Christmas.html

It's plain barmy - words almost fail me   >:(

Although, when you read the article, he was jailed for breaking a court order not because of his views. And he can get out any time by admitting contempt of court. He was suspended on full pay; he clearly wanted to provoke the court and he clearly couldn't care less about the mental health of the child. Religious nutjob: he's where he belongs.

Yes CK but for me it's still barmy - the Police and the Court supported his exclusion from the School on these grounds ? It's sick !

I don't think there's anything the police or courts could do: it's a civil matter presumably based on policy set by the local education authority. And I suspect the 'unwritten' part of the story (because its come from that notorious dog-whistle Daily Mail) is he has been deliberately unpleasant to a struggling child - the school would not have taken the dramatic step of getting a court order to bar him attending otherwise. Notable that none of the parents of other children supported him in court.

Hi CK. I agree this is strange - "Notable that none of the parents of other children supported him in court". But I think it quite unfair to assume that - "he has been deliberately unpleasant to a struggling child".

Whatever else, for Schools anywhere to be trying to implement this policy is barmy, sick and moreover, bloody ridiculous. IMO most find it hard to embrace this crap, (whoops, that's NOT to say you are).

But good replies thanks.

True, I can't be sure. My natural bias against religious zealots - Ireland has more than its share (particularly in the north!). Somebody must have complained about him though, and I can only assume it is the child and their parents.

Hard to believe what my eyes see  ::)  No wonder the NHS is falling apart :-

"The NHS has hired “lived experience” tsars on salaries of up to £115,000, despite ministers vowing a war on waste in the health service.

Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) is recruiting a director for lived experience who must have experiences of a life-altering health condition and “significant power imbalances” in their use of health services.

Its tsar will “ensure brave spaces” for people to give feedback and will be based at St George’s Hospital, Stafford, on a salary of £110,000-£115,000 per year – four times that of a newly qualified nurse or junior doctor
