Doubtless some Franchisees make good money from 7/11. But . . .
At Laem Sing a beach resort close to Chan used mainly by Thais, there was one 7/11.
Then the Landlord tried to put the rent up. The business then rented a larger piece of land 50 metres away, the other side of the lively daily open market and built a far bigger 7/11. Then the landlord of the 1st 7/11 reduced his rent and the Franchisee now has 2 large 7/11's almost adjacent.
And a BigC mini, a CJ, and a Tesco Freshie - all within the last year or two.

Taking on a 7/11 can be a success but you get no stability - another over the road or next door. might appear. In Chan, a massive one just opened 50 metres away from another. In about a mile there can be 3,4,5 . . .
I see the 7/11 that bespoiled the foreground of Korat's lovely Kwan Ruen Park Hotel has been closed after only a few years - someone no doubt lost a packet, again.

Off topic but I chuckled when I heard this - era 1910, the Cinema at Skipton used a long pole with a boxing glove to subdue rowdy watchers from the aisle. Wonderful - bring it back
