Dam - Ben Shapiro - crikey let's stick with Trump  ;)

Returning to the theme of the thread, (reprimand  ;) ), the POUND IS ON THE UP !

XE showing B40.5 to GBP atm. More please  ;D

So CK - Obama, Trump and Biden all not good enough   ::)

I must admit to being constantly amazed that USA Presidential Candidates always seem to be such a motley crew. The USA is not short of brilliant and substantial figures.

You're absolutely right Roger; we have strayed way off topic!

It doesn't affect me, but it is a positive move and I hope it continues (I can't see any alternative).

I don't think any of them had/have a well-crafted international strategy. I appreciate this isn't an issue that many Americans consider important but the influence of US is too important to the rest of us particularly with a couple of malign actors (Russia and China) destabilising the world.

I must admit to being constantly amazed that USA Presidential Candidates always seem to be such a motley crew. The USA is not short of brilliant and substantial figures.

Susan Rice might well be the best choice on the ticket with Biden. She would be a very savvy VP and future POTUS.

Sorry Roger - completely off-topic again! We need a "US 2020 Election" thread!

The Pound is showing B 43.7 right now - that's great   :)

XE have always been tight on the rate but today were only offering B42.9 on transaction - that's poor   :(

I tried OFX who I used years ago but log on proved difficult.

So I registered with 'TransferWise' who have often been recommended on here - thanks for that !
I got B43.7 less a GBP 8 fee and finished up 20 quid better off   8)

Hi Roger,

have been using this option for over two years now. If you choose correct option transaction even shows up as Foreign transfer. Could be important for Immigration purposes.
Name has recently been changed from TransferWise to Wise.

I am not enough of an FX expert (I am not an FX expert full stop) but the recent volatility - the last few weeks - between the THB and all these currencies is notable. A reflection on the external view regarding LOS?

And the cash was there today, (might have been same day, not sure) so 'Wise' get my vote. Robert I think Caller or Alfie recommended 'Wise' in the past and they weren't wrong - just excellent.

XE have always given me a fair rate before, so I was reluctant to change but now, I'll be wise  ;)

Better news in these awful times   ;)    :D

The GBP is now THB 46.5, a full 10 baht UP on Sep 2019 - that's a 27% bonus . . .

As Thailand finds itself in a Covid quagmire, I can see the forex rates getting still better in the coming months.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned here, but moving some GBP this morning, this message was on 'WISE'

"Due to regulatory changes in Thailand, transfers of 50,000 THB and above will only be available for Kasikorn Bank, Bangkok Bank, and Siam Commercial Bank recipients. Effective on 7 January 2022, 1PM Bangkok time. Transfers under 50,000 THB remain unaffected for all supported recipient banks."

Anyone not with these banks, transferring THB65K monthly for Visa purposes, will now need to do 2 transfers monthly. I can't understand the reason for these 'regulatory' changes - seems potty on the face of it.

As Boris goes through his thousand cuts, what will happen to the Pound/THB ? Previously as BJ's troubles increased, the rate went down. The rate has climbed back to B45 atm so I transferred some GBP.

Thanks to the Guys who recommended 'WISE'. I thought WISE were brilliant today - apparently the money should arrive in 9 hours - 2.13 pm   8)
