After the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) found that some schools in the province of
Nakhon Ratchasima supplied their elementary students with substandard lunches, the Prime Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, has insisted that the government is ready to eradicate corruption in the country.
The Deputy Government Spokesman, Lt. Gen. Werachon Sukondhapatipak, said today Prime Minister Prayut had received a report about the school lunch issue from the NACC.
According to the investigation, both large and small schools have each been given a budget of 10,000 baht to prepare lunch meals for their students. However, some schools didn’t spend all the money and school directors failed to clarify where the remaining funding is located. In addition, the government’s school lunch project is exclusively for elementary students, but some schools used the budget to buy lunch meals for high school students as well as teachers. As a result, the meals were not nutritionally sufficient.
