Hi KF peeps - hope everyone is keeping safe and well. Just by way of an update (if you can call it that). Finally got round to paying a visit to the Land and Transport office today to enquire about a Thai driving licence, only to be told that they are not issuing licences at this time due to the Covid 19 situation. The guy didn't say how long it might be before they start again. I usually bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) with me to Thailand (even though, strictly speaking they are not required from the UK) but because my travel plans were brought forward, everything was done in kind of a rush this time so I am simply driving here using my UK licence. The chap today took a look at it and just said to keep using that. My main concerns are that, from previous experience, I know that not all traffic cops are fully aware of the licence requirements plus I am hoping to get the registration docs for the new truck that I've bought fairly soon and that would include the insurance documents so I wanted to tidy everything up with Thai licence. So I asked the chap today whether they issued any letters or temporary permits to say everything was legal and in order. He smiled politely and we left!
