Anyone had cataract surgery? Looks like I need to have it done. Mainly wondering if any problems and time to heal.

Hi RR. There's a bit in this link about cataracts - try St Mary's ?

The optician in the UK tells me I have the early signs but it doesn't impede my sight at all and they don't recommend any treatment atm. They've been saying that for 5 years now . . . .

Is your sight affected ? ATB

Thanks Roger having some blurred vision especially when using computer. I have like a 2.5 out of a 4 rating, guess I could put it off for a while but not sure how fast it would get worse. I have been wearing trifocals for years and good for most things but to see screen clearly need like a 500 reading glasses.

I had both my eyes done at the beginning of this year here in the UK, left eye in January and right in February. Simple and straight forward a patch over the eye for 24hours and then drops for 2 weeks. Vison was totally clear and colours were so bright and vivid. I was also allowed to drive the day afer each op.

Very happy to have had it done had lost nearly all vision in my left eye and the right was on it's way. The big bonus is no more spectacles.
If at first you don't succeed you are clearly not cut out for it. Give up and move on.

Of the people that replied to my  comments here and on FB that had the procedure where all very happy with the outcome. So guess I will have mine done after the first  of the year. But so far nobody has had it done here in Thailand. Good news the doctor I was talking with got his training in the U.S. so should be ok. Thanks for the reply.

I agree with sfs. Had mine done about 5 years ago in a VA Hospital in the US.

Ridge Runner - look back - you'll see my M8 Ed on the Korat Resort had it done at St. Mary's - it was fine. You're right to proceed carefully but IMO the Docs in Th. are not bad at all.

Vin I was quoted 25,000 baht per eye if I do it in his office, or I can have it done at the hospital which would add to the cost(not sure yet how much. The doctor would be the same in any case. I have seen his operation room at his office and it is very clean, also spoke to a lady that had it done at the office and she was very happy with the result say could now see. I saw some online quotes from the larger hospitals for 65,000 and up but I don't live close to any large private hospitals.
