Maharat is a government hospital Fort Suranaree is the military hospital, I think the rest are all private but as foreigners we have to pay anyway so not too much differences except the price.

Bangkok hospital is the most expensive, I stayed there for a couple of days and was very impressed with the standard of clinical care, lovely room, nice food, but I wouldn't want to go there without good insurance!!

I pay only 50 Baht as consultation fees when I visit the hospital run by the air force compared to 300/500 baht charged by a private hospital

A detailed billing can be requested when paying at the counter

Generally the bill would include consultations, medicine, and/or treatment and/or others

A visit to the opd would cost about 2000 for consultations and medicine
Medicine is expensive at private hospitals lol
Recently I paid 800 baht for 2 pills when I could buy 10 for 360 for gf; she claimed that the doctor told her the pills were expensive and there is a limit that the SSO would pay. There is also a limit to the amount that insurance will cover

Not necessarily true. If you have paid into the government health system, you are entitled to use the system the same as a Thai. You can choose your hospital, government or private, and you won't need to pay.

I don't agree. Compare how long it takes to see a doctor and you can see differences. You could wait 5 or 6 hours to see a doctor or dentist in Maharat. You won't wait more than 10 minutes to see a doctor in Por Pet.

Patients seeking treatment in a private hospital are divided into 3 groups

1. Those paying in cash

2. Those under insurance cover

3. Those registered under the SS plan
