Regular charge in public hospitals 50 (fifty) THB per consultation (e.g. at Maharat and at Military Hospital)

I can confirm this once again. I was at Khai Suranaree Military hospital today with a friend (foreigner). He was charged 50 THB for a dermatologist consultation.

physician spoke some English (just enough) and gave me clear-cut diagnosis and prognosis in a confident way. In one month from now I will be able to tell you if he was right or wrong.

My child was complaining a few days with tooth ache.
Normally I bring my child always to the Bangkok hospital, but have read the experiences of members about SUTH, I decided to give them a try.
Saturday morning I wend to SUTH and the view of the outside was horrible.
I was there last year and everything was new.
But Saturday, the whole site looked like there have not been carried out any maintenance since a long time.
The lights at the parking place were almost all broken or teared down.
The reception hall, which used to have a separate reception desk for customers was out of service.
Customers needed to go straight to the Medical Department.
The bottom floor doors were left open and the aircon was out of service at the bottom floor.
Flies and mosquitos everywhere and a sight which looked like the Maharat.
When the reception desk was free, my child went to the desk and explained that she had already a few days a tooth ache.
As she was there for the first time, a medical file was opened and a picture was taken.
Then we were send to the 5th (?) floor, the dental care department.
After waiting for about 20 minutes, a woman who was still consuming her breakfast came to us and asked what we were looking for.
My child explained again that she had already a few days a tooth ache and wanted to see a Dentist.
The woman took her agenda and answered that the soonest date, free for appointment would be in 5 weeks.
We answered with a "Koh tod" and drove to Bangkok Hospital were my child was helped, in and out in 1 hour.
I will put SUTH together with places to avoid on my phone.

Hello to forum members.  Not sure if this will be seen given age of thread, but would like to get an update about the American Dr. at SUTH.  Is he still there and willing to see patients on Tuesdays?  Would like to try SUT for a full physical and being able to discuss results with native English speaker would be excellent.  Thanks in advance to anyone able to provide updated information about him and SUT.

Have you had full physicals done there and if so, how is it?  My only experience has been down in Bangkok at Mission Hosp, the usual "check up" package and then see the American Dr. there for the results. 

Will keep SUT/Dr. Ryan on the list for later this year.  Be great to do this in Korat instead of driving down to Bangkok.

I usually have a once a year bloodcheck. Last time not all ok and ended up doing all kind of things in ..... Bangkok Hospital.

I have just had a minor op in SUTH and thought I would share my thoughts with those of you who may be interested.
I went in pm Sunday and returned home am Wed.  Three nights in a private room where my wife stayed too.  The op’ wasn’t serious, but required a general anesthetic.  The staff were helpful, the service was good as was the food, if a bit cold, but there was a microwave in the room’s small kitchen area.  Total bill came to less than 30,000 Baht, which was less than a 2 day stay in St Mary’s  for a nephew for a similar sort of op’ last year, for which the after-care was, I thought, appalling.
As an aside, I asked the two doctors I met about Dr Ryan, but neither knew of him.
