Thanks for that excellent example of how the right wing media and Tory’s plan using manufactured outrage and culture wars to campaign the next GE
Basically having  to resort to the Suella Mosley hand book of populists division as they canny campaign on policy, achievement’s or good governance
This is really a non issue as the 2  two articles point out not to mention the phrase “PAST support”

As to the concerns implied over trans sexual assaults in women’s prisons

Mr Hinds told the Commons: “Since the 2019 strengthening of our policy there have been no assaults or sexual assaults committed by transgender women in women’s prisons and last year we further strengthened that policy.”

Also  official Government policy in bellow link
I would now think that the sexual assault of Transgenders in male prisons will become a much bigger problem

Jungle this was LN commenting last Thursday, in response to JKR's recent comments.

Myself I was making the point that I don't trust Labour on the 'Woke' front generally, but this DT piece hardly qualifies as a "right wing media and Tory’s plan using manufactured outrage and culture wars to campaign the next GE" Rubbish.

This stuff generally is dealt with widely across the Press, not just in the DT  ;)

I don’t see what the issue is with Nandy is in saying that  the Trans issue shouldn’t be reduced to just” bodily parts “
Which is what most of the Drama and misunderstandings are over
Your of course welcome to your opinion of what the Tories election campaign willconsist of
For me I’m convinced they will use cultural and emotive  single issues like multiculturalism, environmental climate change ,gender issues, foreign courts and a  general fear of Woke what ever that is
And as you imply you would  prefer the same corrupt incompetents because of concerns regarding a transgender person wanting live their own life

Rubbish is a rather strong word possibly best kept back to describe some daily new papers often quoted here :0)

I could be wrong of course as I have been before ..1976 it was if memory serves me correctly ;0)

Just as an aside, I have just read in The Times, that the Mail Online is the 10th most popular news website in the US. Who'd have thought that?

Caller thanks - the DM is visually very well put together IMO but FAR too much celebrity and gossip - perhaps that goes down well in the USA. I wonder if any other UK papers, Times, DT, ranked at all  ?

The UK rotting from the inside - this stuff is just nonsense. More shame on the NHS as waiting lists head for a million  >:( >:( >:(

"A maternity hospital received a low grade on a diversity assessment because staff only use the term “mother” when discussing maternity leave, The Telegraph can disclose.

The Cambridge University Hospital Trust, which manages a maternity hospital called the Rosie, lost points because staff use the term “mother” when referring to the policies it had in place regarding paid leave, instead of broadening it to include gender-neutral alternatives.

The report was carried out by the NHS’ “Rainbow Badge” scheme, which assesses hospitals based on how they treat LGBT patients.

The trust also lost points for not providing staff with guidance on what trans and non-binary employees should wear, pointing out how the trust’s “trans inclusion policy” did not provide “guidance on the dress code for trans employees, including non-binary employees.”

The report also flagged a “cause for concern” about a deluge of comments from staff criticising the trust’s inclusivity efforts for “virtue signaling” instead of providing care, including one comment which said: “We cannot waste taxpayers’ money on tokenism.”

The report said: “0 points were awarded for the Maternity Leave Policy. The policy does not have an inclusion statement to make clear that it applies to all irrespective of gender/gender of partner etc. The policy also refers to “mother” without expanding to include gender-neutral/inclusive terms and only uses he/she pronouns throughout.”

Indeed. Roger takes it all far too seriously, IMHO.

Stop reading the Daily Mail and the Telegraph and most of these "problems" will simply disappear from the radar.  ;)

Hi Alfie - good to see you posting again but I beg to differ. Regarding your "Stop reading the Daily Mail and the Telegraph and most of these "problems" will simply disappear from the radar."

Of course we can make all problems 'simply disappear' if we don't follow the media.

I wonder what view you would take if you had a couple of kids in junior school getting their sex education from drag queens, just for example.

But you are right - I do take most things seriously ! And 'nowt' wrong with that. ATB

It wouldn't bother me, Roger. Which part of it bothers you?

No answer to that Alfie.

Really? You don't know which aspect of it bothers you?

Let me try to help you by narrowing it down with some options.

(a) You don't like school children getting sex education.
(b) You don't like primary school children getting sex education.
(c) You don't like children getting sex education from a man.
(d) You don't like children getting education from someone who is a drag artist.
(e) You don't like children getting sex education from someone who is a drag artist.

If any of those options bother you, why do they bother you?

When you say 'primary' school, I think of what was known in Wiltshire in the 50's as 'infant/primary' school, which would have been say 4,5,6,7? year olds. Thence 'junior' school until the 11+ and onto a 'secondary' school, (Grammar or Secondary Modern) - precluding the 'Comprehensive' category that did not arrive during my school years.

So using those definitions, b,d and e, would be dislikes. with a and c as likes.

Drag artists are OK - I've enjoyed them on TV as adult entertainers - (I loved Barry Humphries!).

But imo drag artists have no place in Schools at all and particularly, in sex education.

Hi Roger, I am not familiar with any actual cases where drag artists have taught young school children sex education in the UK so I don't know what age you really meant but if you are, I would appreciate a link or if that is not possible, the name or location of the school and the ages of the children involved.
TIA.

"Sex education has been suspended in Isle of Man schools after a drag queen allegedly told 11-year-olds that there are 73 genders.

The Isle of Man government has launched an independent review of its personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) curriculum after parents raised the alarm about the “graphic, disproportionate, indecent presentation” of sexual acts and different gender identities understood to have been taught in lessons.

Parents of pupils at Queen Elizabeth II High School in Peel, on the Isle of Man, have reported that Year 7 pupils were taught by a drag queen who told them there are 73 genders.

When one “upset” child responded and said “there’s only two”, the drag queen allegedly responded “you’ve upset me” and made the pupil leave the class.

Some 11-year-olds at the school were taught about oral and anal sex, while another group learned about sex change operations and were shown how skin graft taken from a girl’s arm could be used on an artificial penis, according to reports.

“A lot of children are just too traumatised to even talk to their parents," Eliza Cox, vice-chairman of Marown Commissioners, told Energy FM Isle of Man. “As a parent, you don’t know what children are being taught.”

She said that one teacher on the island had told her she had to teach a group of boys and girls in Years 7 and 8 how to masturbate. Another teacher was said to be so uncomfortable with the content of the PSHE curriculum that they told pupils: “Please don’t listen to me” while they taught the lesson."

I would imagine that there are very many ordinary people born and riased in the IOM over many hundreds of years that aren't living there because it's a tax haven. One of the Worlds greatest watchmakers also lives and works there, as did his mentor.  A place I always wanted to visit.

Hi Roger,
That article is dated 27 February 2023. Since then an investigation was undertaken and found that some of those claims were inaccurate.

The following comes from a BBC article dated 21 March 2023.

Quote
Some claims about sex education lessons on the Isle of Man, which led to a suspension of the subject, were inaccurate, an investigation has found.

It followed complaints by parents of some Year 7 students at Queen Elizabeth II High School of "graphic" teaching.

Investigators addressed allegations that a guest speaker dressed in drag sent a student out of the classroom and taught pupils "obscene" information.

Evidence gathered during phase one of the probe showed neither was the case.

Quote
The investigation found the guest speaker, who occasionally performed as a drag artist, was not dressed in drag at the time and did not ask a pupil to leave the classroom.

It also found that the guest speaker had given previous presentations in other schools "without incident" and teachers present considered it to be "measured and appropriate".

Ms Edge said, while one pupil was temporarily removed from the room by a teacher, it was not related to the guest speaker's conversation about inclusion but to remind them that they did "not have to agree with the guest speaker", but "must show respect".

She said a pupil had asked the guest speaker how many genders there were, to which their response was "there could be as many as 72".
