Rice farmers to get 1,000 baht subsidy per rai
RICE FARMERS IN ALL parts of the country will be given 1,000 baht in government subsidy for each rai of their crop within a one-month period from now.

The cabinet today (Nov.14) approved the Pheu Thai-led government’s measure to grant 1,000 baht in subsidy per rai of rice farm to an estimated 4.68 million households throughout the country in one month’s time, beginning next Monday, said Agriculture & Cooperatives Minister Thammanat Prompao.

Nevertheless, each household will evidently declare a maximum of 20 rai of their crop to be entitled to the government subsidy, according to the agriculture & cooperatives minister.

The Bank for Agriculture & Agricultural Cooperatives has earmarked some 56.3 billion baht in funding to cover the subsidy measure for those farmers nationwide.

In the 2023/2024 season, Thailand is expected to produce some 32 million tonnes of rice, according to the Office of Agricultural Economics.

That includes 25.5 million tonnes of single-harvest crops and 6.7 million tonnes of multiple-harvest crops, according to the agricultural agency.
