In the 'old days' it was much easier; one bought a load of Christmas cards, wrote a line or two and sent them by post a week or so before Christmas for not a lot of money. In our sitting rooms Christmas cards stood on every available space or were draped around the walls on string. No more, alas! Apart from the sheer convenience of writing and sending an illustrated e-mail, the length of time for cards to reach their destinations, the current exorbitant cost and uncertainty of their arrival due eg to postal workers striking has all but doomed them. Sad!
