First managerial casualties of the season are Scott Parker (Bournemouth) after a 9-0 drubbing by Liverpool and Jack Ross (Dundee Utd) after a 9-0 drubbing by Celtic.
Parker, for me, could have gone for wearing that cardigan! While Ross who is an ex Sunderland Manager sees his erstwhile club also managerless after Stoke City tempted him away from the SoL with tainted Bet356 money.

Seems the friction between Parker and the board over transfers and his comments after the Liverpool game are what led to his dismissal. They were always favourites to go down and cant really spend like the other new teams have, especially Forest.

But result wise, beating Villa was a bonus and no-one expected them to get anything against Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

But they are clearly going to struggle this season and it will be interesting to see who takes over - if anyone wants to. Sean Dyche seems to be favourite, but I can't see why he would want to go there. I think he will be looking for a club that has greater ambition and potential than Bournemouth.  Being honest, I don't think Parker fancied it with so little invested in new players and he leaves with his reputation as a manager intact, to fight another day somewhere else.

Now Tuchel is sacked. After letting him sign Fofana and  Cucurella at an inflated price and Arsenal reject  33 yo Aubameyang  fior £10m  they sack him after 1 CL defeat in Zagreb. Who wiill they appoint now?
In my opinion they have talented players in Mount, Havertz and Pulisic but don't seem to get the best out of them

Last night was painful to watch, but so has much of this season. I dont know what's happened at Chelsea, but it's not been good since the first game againt Everton, when we simply didn't look well prepared, or even fit enough. Constant changes in formation and personnel hasn't helped and selling Gilmour caused such a negative response, that Tuchel had to offer an explanation on the Chelsea app as to why he sanctioned the move. What he had to say didn't impress me. Neither did agreeing to Hudson-Odoi going on loan . He was just the player needed last night to get behind the defence. Something we generally lack. There are many that feel he doesn't really rate Gallagher, but there would have been riots if he had been allowed to leave after what he achieved at Palace last season. And whilst he has featured, not once as he played in his favoured position. Most performances have been turgid, predictable, one dimensional fare and the players haven't looked happy on the pitch for some time. James was openly mocking Ziyech at one stage last night, rightly so, I should add.

It's a shame as I saw Tuchel the long term manager the fans crave, but last season ended disappointingly, and it's been even worse this season - and he doesn't seem to have any answers.

Most of the signings have been good, especially Fofana, and they will be an asset whoever comes in, although Koulibaly ain't no Rudiger. The jury is out on Auba.

Why Auba was selected last night, with only 8 minutes game time this season  and a broken jaw is beyond comprehension and an example of how much Tuchel had lost his way. It just defies logic. Bringing Ziyech on wasn't much better and he was awful.

So we start again. Nothing new there. I think Chelsea fans would welcome Potter.

How much longer will Brendon Rogers last at Leicester?

I think he would be happy with the sack. Theres no future with no investment on the playing side and the future doesn't look good - and he knows it.

I think most of us feel certain that the awarding of the 2022 World Cup to Qatar was bizarre. The FIFA culprits responsible, seem to have escaped punishment   ???

I was shocked to read this :-

"Paris has joined several French cities in announcing they will not show World Cup matches in public places or set up “fan zones” in protest at human rights and environmental abuses in the host nation, Qatar. The moves to boycott the competition next month come after what has been described as a “last minute crisis of conscience” by the public authorities.

Local authorities in Marseille, Lille, Bordeaux, Reims, Nancy, Rodez and the capital have announced they will not install giant television screens as in the past to relay matches
."

Oh dear. Sorry but IMHO, misconceived fro the start - but come on England   ::)

Torquay are bottom of the National League, Roger; what's going on?

And do you think Gary Johnson will get his P45 soon?

Alfie I fear so - over the years, Johnson has success for a while and then seems to hit a wall. But it's very hard losing our 5 best players at the end of last season. That said, when I listen to GJ he sends me to sleep so I wonder, has he lost the Players ? We'll see . . . .

An FA Cup win tonight would help   ::)

I know what you mean about Gary Johnson's voice. He seems to have aged a lot in the last few years. I don't think he is the same man after his heart problem five years ago.

Alfie I've always been concerned about the health of Gary J. He lives in Portishead and has a significant commute on top of all that match travel. My conclusion is that maybe he's hit his wall again. Lee J after Bristol City and Sunderland is now at Dunfermline . . .

A televised 4-4 home draw with Altricham yesterday, equalising in the 97th minute !! At least they managed to score some goals   :D

On TV again Nov 6th, FA Cup home to Derby County. KO 4pm. Should be fun ?

You've got to be happy with Tuesday's result, Roger! Wow. That was unexpected. Gary should be in his job for at least another month after that result.

Cheers Alfie - some recent loan signings were crucial on Tuesday - the welcome return of an aged local bruiser, Mark Ellis, was helpful. Started as a Bolton youth player under Allardyce and later loaned to and signed by the Gulls and moving on through a number of Clubs in L1 and L2. Great to see him back, at 34   ;)

And Stephen Wearne loaned to us by Sunderland last year, now at Grimsby - a talented Lad and our crowd luv him !

Long way to go but that's good I suppose - if they can keep playing OK  ::)

TUFC v Derby County on ITV at 10pm.

I predict TUFC 1 Derby County 10.

Or not.

A good draw for TUFC, Roger. Well done the Gulls.

Will they get any gate money from the replay in Derby?

The World Cup was a rude intrusion but what a season 22/23 is promising to be - who would have thought that Arsenal would have been 5 points clear of Man City, 12 clear of Liverpool and 16 ahead of distant Chelsea.

Newcastle in 3rd are rejuvenated beyond belief - Eddie Howe is a great Manager.  Brighton continue to thrive without Potter who cant, yet, get top spenders Chelsea moving. Fulham with Mitrovic and Brentford without Erikson are going well.

Man Utd as always the centre of much attention but they are still thereabouts. Its really sad to see Christiano Ronaldo moving to play exhibition football in Saudi. Hes worth a fortune now and would have had much more fun returning to a Club in Madeira or Portugal?

Brendan Rogers is hanging on - I think Leicester will survive but all the Clubs below them are on the rack. That includes 3rd biggest spenders - Forest.

Our predictions are more difficult as we havent so far been able to rely every week on Man City and moreso Liverpool this season.

Happy New Year to all.

Not long TW - a good win needed against Prachuap on 21/1 - I wonder if Blackwell is back.

I was absolutely delighted to see Darren Moore and Sheffield Wednesday dump Newcastle out of the Cup. After Darren left Torquay he had a long and good career as a Player and has really made his mark as a Manager too. I reflect on how far Darren has come since I first noticed him shambling around at Coach Rd in Newton Abbot pre-season - a LONG time ago.

Good to see West Ham beat Brentford who have been performing mightily. Hollywood Wrexham beat Championship Coventry City too, flying the flag for the National League - word has it they are paying they are paying one player £15K pw and others £10K  :o

Something is wrong with Liverpool in the EPL and now Van Dyke is out  :-\  I didnt see that downturn coming. Spurs are back to form and Man Utd defy all those earlier predictions of doom with good form now. Ronaldo turned out to be a corrosive influence it seems.

Yesterday after his post match chat, Gary Johnson sounded like he's almost ready to walk away from Torquay, Roger. Perhaps a leave by mutual consent deal is coming to TUFC soon!
