I see in The Bkk Post today that Gen Apirat, the Army Commander, has promised to off-load many of the Armys welfare enterprises to be run by the private sector. This will include golf course, of which they have 30 nationwide and which make no profit (eh?!). I doubt much will change except that all of a sudden the 500 odd baht fee at Surannaree will suddenly jump to 1200 Baht. Frankly, I don't see the Army letting go completely of all their money making side-lines. As an aside, nothing has been mentioned about the Air Force and the Navy's golf courses.
