"1) 90 day reporting
2) scrap the money in the bank idea
3) a home with a bit of land in your name"

None of which actually cost me any money.
Number 1 is a minor inconvenience, as is Number 2 (and no-body please tell me about the fabulous returns they can get on THB800k if it were in another country/bank),
Number 3 is a risk rather than a cost.

So all the above are relative trivia.

Next question please.
There won't be a next question, it's not the first time you have taken cheap shots from behind your keyboard or whatever at me, shame because there are some nice members here, i suggest the admin has a prune before you loose others. Oh! here's the video.

I fully agree with Thaiga about non-useful comments of Dam12641. Giving comments only without any contribution is not my way of thinking. This topic was meant for input not for questions/comments on the input. If Dam12641 does not like a topic he should start a topic of his own and give comments there on various subjects. To be clear: I live here over 12 years, now, do not have pink glasses, do understand (sometimes) Thai culture, have to do my extension every year but have my eyes open and see things what could be improved in Thailand and in my home country.

Means I have an opinion about things like:
1. If stay with family for a party or a cremation I have to report to police in 24 hours. Why, Thai do not have to do, only foreigners so discrimination IMHO.
2. My embassy still uses proof of income so for ME no problem but feel for others as totally disagree they would have to keep a certain amount in the bank and not use it.
It is their earned money so why should a foreign government block them from using it?
3. The 90 days report is a farce. I can do it online and does not cost me time but what is it used for?
4. Building a house and putting in the name of your wife is maybe a risk but for me more a sign of trust.

I could continue with a lot more items but rest my case.

Robert

What an extraordinary response.
I give my opinion of your points and you construe that as a cheap shot?

I post an amusing, on-topic video and that is also a cheap shot?

My, we are a sensitive soul aren't we.

And now you are suggesting that I be exiled from the forum.

Having been falsely accused of taking cheap shots I feel that now I owe you one. A cheap shot that is.
So here goes:

If the above is an example of your tolerance levels it is little wonder that the other KF is going down the pan.

Hi Thaiga and Robert - I didn't actually think that Dam was being unhelpful Guys.

I'd agree that the 90 day reporting is a minor inconvenience particularly if it can be done 'on line' and it doesn't really worry me at all  - but I disagree with Dam on this - to have B800K in the bank for 7 months in a 14 month period IS a major inconvenience if you are not fortunate enough to have it lying around   :-\

As for buying a house in your wife's name - yes there's a risk you'll be 'burning your bridges' to quote KK when you defray the cost of a house and to do so IS a matter of trust of course. Great trust - I have met many Falang who have regrets on that front.  No doubt we K-F's all got that one right   ;)

My Missis commented on Falangs 'Visa' situation and reminds me that it's not actually very easy for Thais to get approval for residence in the UK either. It occurs to me though, that if a Thai does live in say the UK, he/she CAN own freehold property. IMO it's quite wrong that Falang here cannot do so.

(For the record, I put my house in Korat in a Company to limit my Ex's share in it and that caution was fully vindicated when she later descended into gambling and vodka. Of course I trusted her but I had read the cautionary tales before I acted).

Robert I think it's OK to discuss matters even if you feel you cannot add much - mai pen lai.

It was only my personal opinion regarding reacting to topics. To be honest I am really a very tolerant guy but sometimes I read something and react especially when somebody opens a topic and get these kind of responses. The past cannot never be changed, only the future and therefore I welcome new ideas (even being 72). I do not like negative thoughts maybe because of my age.

Where did I mention you should be exiled from this forum. I even suggested you open another topic yourself.
Anyway will see what the furure brings  ;D ;D ;D ;D

thank you robert, (as you can see by his last post) it's all about the other forum KF. if you read my forum history, for the few posts i have made here since joining, insults have followed like one post, (I'm just a copy n post man) from one member but when i do start a thread it gets a reply like we've seen. on many forums there is a lot of negativity from expats.

One can only assume .....

1) certain amount of jealousy among some expats
                              or
2) being unhappy here a chance to vent their anger hiding behind the keyboard
                              or
3) it could be the drink talking

4) ...................................

you decide guys, what do you think

little wonder that the other KF is going down the pan.

So now we know what it's all about KF, as for going down the pan here's the page views
K-F Most Online Today: 442. Most Online Ever: 1665 --------- KF Most Online Today: 1228. Most Online Ever: 3338

How is that with very little posters - it has good info & good content - living off the fat - when i was mod it was Most Online Ever: 3338 then started to drop when i left. perhaps after 10 yrs it needs a change of admin. i was invited to come over to this forum, now why don't you take the admins advice for the good of your forum.

Please remember we're looking to the future and have no interest in what happened many years ago. The past is the past: lets leave it in the past and move on.

a story from many years ago, before i moved here, on holiday in patts. i always heard about viagra so i thought i would try it. so i bought a pkt and downed one, off i went on the search and in a bar just outside pattaya i met the most wonderful woman to perform the dirty deed with (or so i thought)

i'm always amazed at how brazen these girls are in their place of work, dancing about in next to nothing, yet when back in the hotel room they seem to change to shy mode, come out the shower with the towel wrapped round them so tight.

but this chick never came out the shower, so i downed another viagra as the first one never worked, then i gently tapped on the bathroom door i could hear her whimpering, so i opened the door she was sat on the floor crying. i coaxed her out on to the bed where she sat and from what i could understand it was her first time as in going with a farang.

OMG i thought, what luck i'm having, so i said no worries we go eat, she give me a little hug and said, me sorry, i not do before. so we sit and eat in a restaurant smiles all round, thinking in the back of my mind, is this a scam or what, i got up from the table to use the loo, completely forgetting about the two viagra, as i got up she laughed at the bulge in my pants, she laughed so loudly now everyone was staring, as i hurried off, i managed to cover the beast on my return by untucking my shirt.

she now wanted to go back to the hotel and said, i make him go down, you no pay. to my delight, that's what happened, she said i no like bar, i go home, so i payed her fare home. i wonder how many are the same as her but have to carry on.

spot the real woman online test below

do you a have problem spotting the real women at times, it is a very easy mistake to make. so what are the tell tale signs, if your a bar person on the prowl could be a costly mistake, all them lady drinks only to find a bag of nuts back at your room.

They say, check out the voice when they say, hello hansum man. Being tall is a sign as thai men are 4 inches taller than thai women and ladyboys walk different like their on a catwalk, they also are more feminine than thai women. But none of them are guaranteed giveaways only the ID card.

Take the test here START

a little story from thailovelines - no woes from this guy - BUT ... It would be wrong to think that all foreign men in Thailand are like this, in fact most foreigners living in Thailand have stable relationships with Thai wives

an english man who has boasted to have slept with over 4,000 women! - 'I've never had to pay for sex.' 'In Pattaya,' the Englishman replied. Yeah rite, What does 8 times 365 equal 2920

Older Englishman in Pattaya has slept with over 4,000 women!

Johnny is similar to a retired elderly white man living in retirement in Thailand who has boasted to have slept with over 4,000 women! The man, a former taxi driver in England, says he has slept with a different Thai girl nearly every day during his 8 years living in Pattaya, one of Thailand's top destinations for foreigners seeking sun and sex. His story was featured on an internet blog posted by a younger white woman who he attempted to chat up by telling her of his sexually conquests earlier this year.

The Englishman from Pattaya, made his confession or boast to the white American woman while in Cambodia on a visa run, a routine for many foreigners in Thailand who do not have long term visas or legal status in the Thai Kingdom.

'Aren't you embarrassed?" asked the American woman while they waited outside the Immigration center on the other side of the Thai border. 'Why should I be embarrassed?' responded the Englishman. 'That you had to pay for it,' replied the foreign woman; 'I've never had to pay for sex.' 'In Pattaya,' the Englishman replied, quite pleased to shock the young American woman, 'everyone does it. That's why we go there. You should come and see.'

The American woman, who was living in Chiang Mai, Thailand declined his invitation but was left wondering just what many of the foreign middle aged men, who are retiring to Thailand, are really up to.

Fascinating!  But this is all rather off the subject of the original post, which was a good and worthwhile topic.

The thread progressed to this from Thaiga, Robert and team K-F . .

"What would you choose to change (if you could) most important to you, just a few of many suggestions below ...

1) 90 day reporting
2) scrap the money in the bank idea
3) a home with a bit of land in your name
4) Over a certain age (lets say 70) and being here over 5/10 years already lifetime extension instead of obtaining it every year.
5) Affordable health insurance option ''

I'm sure there's plenty more  ;)

Roger the forum wizard strikes again - lets not forget one important change that would be good that robert mentioned earlier
If staying with family for a party or a cremation you have to report to police in 24 hours. yes who wouldn't want a home with a plot of land in their own name.

The visa rules dont really affect me but what I would like to see is affordable Australian/New Zealand wine. UK imposes taxes of around £3.50 per bottle yet its stiil double the price here.
