Do Wheels Make the Vehicle ?

My friend has a saying , every time we see a vehicle with a nice set of wheels , has to say '' Wheels Make the Vehicle ''  , Ive really never thought about it before, but it does seem every where I now look there's a new set of shiny wheels shouting back at me , so do you think Wheels Make The vehicle ?

I have to say, i have observed some of Aussie cars namely the Commodore that look good, but rather ordinary with normal wheels but real sexy with a decent set of picks, big wheels with real low profile tyres. Actually, not just the commodore, it goes for most cars when i think about it.

My mate had a set of new chrome wheels with low profile tyres fitted, his  first comment after driving around showing them off was, bugger I feel ever bump in the road now 

so yes the do look nice but I wonder at what cost with the ride quality ?

Well, after reading this thread, I went to a local wheel merchant. They had both wheels and tyres for sale. I sat on one wheel and tried to drive it but it didn't move. I tried another with the same result - nothing. The staff in the shop gave me some funny looks and one of them (the owner, I think) asked my wife if I was crazy. She said "No, but he's trying out something he read on the internet suggested by a guy called Thaiphoon. Is it a problem?" The shop owner seemed to give a knowing smile and then left us to it, saying as he walked away, "Mypenry".  

EDIT: I suppose I should add that I think wheels are important to a car but cars need much more. Do wheels make a car standout? Yes, sometimes, but so does a good paint job and so does an open window with a sexy chick inside.

Thats pretty obvious, thats a good thing.
