National museums offer free admission on Sundays

The Maha Viravong National Museum in Korat and the Phimai National Museum are among the national museums in Thailand that are offering free admission every Sunday for both Thais and foreigners who come with their families until September 27 this year.

Thank you. I don't quite understand this point. Does that mean that if I go alone I will be charged entry ticket anyway?

Yesterday, Sunday, I tried Maha Viravong National Museum downtown Korat. I went alone at around 1 pm. I was the only visitor, the adjacent public library was closed and there was absolutely nobody around. At first the man at ticket counter wanted to charge me regular entry fee (50 baht). As soon as I told him about the announcement I had been reading on the paper (free admission on Sundays), he changed attitude and let me in free of charge without any objection. Museum is nice but so small you take the whole slow tour in less than 30 minutes; I actually took just about 15 minutes.
