George Cohen - God love him

I was at Fulham at the East end by the Cottage, after '66, as I remember, when he broke his leg around the half way line - we could hear it. What a great Guy and a World Cup winner to boot. R.I.P.
All a long time ago.
"Announcing his death, Fulham said that they were “desperately saddened to learn of the passing of one of our greatest ever players – and gentlemen – George Cohen MBE” and recalled how he made his debut for the club aged 17 in 1957 after working on the club’s ground-staff.
“Blessed with terrific pace, he became one of the game’s first attacking full-backs, setting the tone for how football is so often played today,” said the Fulham statement."
