Looks like Europe and the UK will be trading on WTO terms - amazingly, (to me), it seems the EU have not offered much change since the UK was a Member of the EU.

"Ministers now believe that Britain and the EU will fail to sign a post-Brexit trade deal, with just days to go until Boris Johnson’s July deadline for an outline agreement passes. The Telegraph has learnt that the Government’s central working assumption is that Britain will trade with Europe on World Trade Organisation terms when the transition period ends on December 31.

UK and EU negotiators began the latest round of negotiations in London on Monday, but remain deadlocked on the stumbling blocks of fishing rights, so-called level playing field guarantees, governance of the deal, and the role of the European Court of Justice. Senior sources said there was now an assumption that “there won’t be a deal”, though it remains possible that a “basic” agreement could be reached if the EU gives ground in the autumn.

Businesses have already been told to start preparing for a no trade deal exit from the transition period, a scenario which comes closer with each day of failed negotiations

When this happens in the UK I feel ashamed of my home country. In France, PSG fans riot in the battered Champs Elysee - what the hell ? After the 'yellow vests' saga one has to conclude, the French are GOOD at this ! What can the Police do ?

Hi Roger,

it is of course absolutely crazy if people riot like this after a lost football game. Maybe there is more to it then only football? Maybe really unhappy people with their lives and dark or no future?

By the way Wikipedia gives following info:

The words hooliganism and hooligan began to be associated with violence in sports, in particular from the 1970s in the UK with football hooliganism.

Football fans in your own country reinvented hooliganism.

Have a nice day,
Robert

Yes Robert I won't defend the Brits. But I also remember that the Dutch had a terrible reputation too for hooliganism  ;)  I'm sure you remember that. In passing, I used to visit Ghent once or twice a month for many years - and I can tell you, that the Sunday influx of the Dutch hoolies was much dreaded.

I don't defend the English sub-culture. But the French seem to have brought this to a fine and persistent art   :o

Do you have any answer to my question ? WHAT can the Police do ? Nice evening . . . .

Hi Roger,

when I was young (yes a very long time ago) one agent was enough telling 20 boys to stop what they were doing. Nowadays you need 20 coppers to stop one person. No respect for the law anymore. Also police, firemen, ambulance staff are harassed and filmed if they react through phones. Just recently Feyenoord played a friendly match against Duisburg in Germany and guess what? No spectators allowed but some Dutch fans just went there to fight. So indeed crazy football fans in The Netherlands too  ;D ;D ;D
