You're exactly right. The new motorway follows Hwy 362 east from Hwy 1 until 362 turns north. The new motorway continues east.

It's actually quicker to go through Saraburi than on the bypass. It saves 7 - 10 minutes depending on traffic.

We found the same thing. According to Google Maps the bypass is 4K and 7 minutes longer. Of course, the travel time depends a lot on traffic.

Check out this wiki map, its been available for some years now and seems to be updated quite frequently. I used it when they where building the bypass road 1111 from hyw 2 to hwy 224,

That is excellent. Thank you. I was interested to see that there will be access from Motorway 6 to the Eastern Ring Road on an access road right next to Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. I was wondering how they would accomplish that.

I drove along the 362 a couple of weeks ago. It's not a very quick route at the moment as they are building the elevated roadway there and there are several sets of extra traffic lights there. The elevated roadway along the 362 is coming along nicely. A double set of roads looks almost complete at one point but it's not complete all the way along that road. Only partial. I'll see if I have a photo of it.


By the way, isn't there another thread about the new road? I'm pretty sure there is, or was, but I've no idea where it's located now.

I am retired so time enough  . My "problem" has more do to with the merging traffic near Saraburi. Have seen some accidents there caused by people changing lanes without waiting for some space. With roadcontructions on 362 for sure using this road takes a lot more time I agree 100%. Anyway when new highway nr 6 is ready I for sure will use this road. Then no need for 362 anymore. I just mentioned 362 to tell also elevated roadcontructions at that area.

Paving of the new motorway has begun in the vicinity of Si Mum. I cycled up there this morning and took the opportunity to ride on the new concrete. It's incredibly smooth and the joints are pretty much undetectable. I wonder how long it will last?

Don't count yourself rich. I read this as follows but correct me if I am wrong. Start is Thb 10 and 1,25 per km so if you use the full 200 km tootal amount comes to Thb 260. Stil good price IMHO.

Bangkok Post: Tolls will begin at 10 baht for cars, with the total fee calculated at 1.25 baht per kilometre.

A couple of weeks ago we DROVE ON HWY 6 east from the 204 @ the Shell gas station, was able to drive to HWY 2198 but as they where laying ashphalt on the next strech of HWY. I took 2198 to 2068 then North on 2068 to where it crosses HWY6, saw some local traffic going east but wife said NO!  After she had been sayiong all along NO DRIVE HERE, NOT OPEN,

Because if they mean Bangkok city centre, or Mochit bus station for all those who travel by bus, I'm sceptical on this point. Easier to believe that it will cut by half travel time from Korat to Bang Pa-in, but that's where traffic jams usually start if I'm not mistaking. For those who travel by bus: Korat bus station to Mochit in 2 hours? Sorry but it sounds too good to be true.

I also doubt travelling time will be cut by half. Simple mathematic: 200 km driving 120 km per hour results in travellingtime of 1 hour and 40 minutes so total 100 minutes. Travelling at 90 km per hour comes to 2 hours and 15 minutes so total of 135 minutes.

Correct, was based upon best circumstances without any issues and even then half not feasable.

And, if coming from Korat, after those 200 km you are not in the capital yet.
