Petroleum company Esso Thailand has been acquired by Bangchak, following the completion of a majority stake acquisition by ExxonMobil. Esso’s petrol stations across the country will be operating under Bangchak’s brand from tomorrow.

Following the completion of this deal, some 700 Esso’s petrol stations across the country will start operating under Bangchak’s brand.

This acquisition marks the end of Esso’s 129-year operations in Thailand, with all Esso’s petrol stations being completely rebranded as Bangchak’s within 2 years.

I recall that PTT took over Cococo-Phillips "Jet" stations in about 2007.  Interesting that not many years ago PTT said they were replacing all the '7/11' stores in its PTT stations with their own 'Jiffy' stores (which they inherited from Conoco-Phillips.    One sees the odd Jiffy at what used to be Jet stations, but I haven't noticed any wholesale replacement of 7/11 stores at PTT stations.  I wonder what happened to that plan!?

I recall thast as well. It was big news at the time. I believe PTT is quasi-state owned, so probably the generals told them not to mess with their main backers.
