Cheers Tiggs - I must say I often wondered how ASEAN was financed as I don't see any commercial advertising at all - (but I have a 'blocker' on). In the Reddit comments someone says the Owners paid THB 30,000,000 and wanted THB 8,000,000 for it now - I thought it was someone's hobby

That thread shows everything wrong with big forums! It descends into juvenile insults and insider jokes. I don't bother with either ASEAN or TD (or any other forums to be honest!)

RIP Ubon Joe, master of Thailand visa rules and regs
Thaivisa's master of Thailand visa rules and procedures, Ubon Joe, has passed away. He, without much exaggeration, was the heart of what is now called ASEAN Now.

There is a long thread that shows just how much Joe's incredible knowledge drew so many visitors to join up predecessor Thaivisa.com and ASEAN Now. Some contacted him at least 20 years ago.

Including me. Thank you so much, Joe. RIP mate!

Personal note: Frankly, there is not much left of Thaivisa/ASEAN Now worth keeping. First, Ubon Joe was irreplaceable. Second, there is a much reduced participation on the AN pages for several years now -- they never should have changed the name, IMHO. Many topics receive very few replies and some go without a single reply. And, of course, the trolls stand ready to bash and slash. << Then again, all you need are clicks

I used to regularly view TD, because it was basically hardly moderated and the humour cracked me up. I hardly ever posted though. One guy was so funny, I bought his self published book! Reading throught that thread you linked to, has some great humour. I think I might start wandering over there once or twice a week, jut to have a laugh.

Stickman used to be very informative as this article you found proves Tiggs. Since he moved to NZ its much less interesting - the articles and photos he used to do away from the go-go bars gave a different view.
