Just been along the Korat ring road from the north east and noticed that just after the PTT petrol station on the left at the end of it the sign for "Motorway" on the slip road leading to it has been uncovered and I could see vehicles moving on the bridge above.  Anyone got any info as to whether this 'motorway' is open and if so how far one can go.  I saw in the BP this morning an article saying that they were considering opening the Lam Takhong stretch this coming w/e.

Driving back from Khon Kaen via Korat to Bkk on Saturday, we saw the new signage on the 'by-pass' and turned off thinking we could hit the new road to at least further along route 2 from where you would normally join it, but the signage was confusing and the first slip road appeared open, but not sure whether it really was as there was still some building work going on and it didn't appear the road we needed to join(?), the second slip way was blocked off, so we rejoined the 'by-pass' and carried on as normal.

Has the new motorway opened yet? It seems to have been close to opening for 2 years.

They opened the Lam Takhong overhead stretch again over Songkran, but closed again now.  The problem is that the whole thing is not yet complete, eg if you go to Bkk on Routes 2 and 1 as you go over the Khau Yai area you can see a lot of road works where they have just constructed the pillars over the MItraparp for the m/way.  I heard mid 2023 from somewhere, but no doubt subject to more slippage!

Follow the route on google maps and you will see all the gaps. Good to actually work out it's route as well. I was in Korat just before songkran - or was it after? It was frustrating to see those using the new stretches by the dam, but unable to take advantage as no idea where to enter or exit.
