Korat-Ranong 5 days

My girlfriend and I are planning a 5-day vacation in Ranong (with an N, not Rayong) at the end of October. We don't have a car. As it will be our first time there, I would appreciate any useful tips on how to get there, hotel recommendations (3 stars), places to visit nearby, etc. I'm checking now flights from Don Mueang with Air Asia, who are apparently the only ones serving that destination. Thanks in advance for any useful advice.

I keep meaning to head there from Hua Hin. Might be a trip to treat myself to once I fully recover from some medical treatment I have just finished.

But if it's okay to post links to other forums, there's some info here that might be of some use. If you don't know, Ranong used to be a major visa run destination for anyone south, because of it's proximity to Myanmar.

Thank you Caller, I'm checking the information in those discussions although they will not tackle my first question being "how to get there" (from Korat).

I was wrong, in the meanwhile I found that also Nok Air is serving the destination from Don Mueang.

you can get a bus from the Southern bus terminal at Sai Tai in Bangkok. Long way to go for 5 days!
