This place used to be the best place in town, western music played well,
half decent food and imported beer.
Koratfarang, com today posts that it could be back on track

New owners of BULE saloon?
« on: Today at 03:39:19 AM »
Anyone know what's going on with this place?  It was one of the first bars I went to when I came to Thailand eleven years ago.  John is now in the states and was truly the backbone behind this place.  I've heard that three farangs are going to take over this place?  That sounds really cool and I wish them the best of luck.  This used to be one of my favorite places to go years ago....

Let's hope so..

I agree with that wholeheartedly (though maybe the food wasn't quite so good as it could have been). The music was great and they'd play a song for you if you requested it - Hendrix, Clapton, Cream, Bad Company, Pink Floyd or Stevie Ray Vaughn and many others - no problem . The place had a great atmosphere and I spent many an evening enjoying myself there. It wasn't the same when John left for America. I don't go out much these days so I don't know what it has been like recently but if the new place is anything like the old place, it will be a great addition to the nightlife in town - and I might even be tempted to go out again!

I heard Chico was behind the new opening, a Mexican tacco bar, pool tables and beautiful accomadating girls. (after opening hours of course).
Koratfarang today
Chico disappeared around the same time as Korat Kurt appeared so is the writer telling us something ;) never mind...
Chico is a good mate of the guy who runs the restaurant next door to Bule's who just happens to be the ex husband of Lek who is a tremendous cook and owner of the big chilli mexican restaurant. It kinda fits.
I will be first in the queue just ahead of Alfie if Chico can get this place back to it's former glory. It's been a big miss for music lovers and that should be Chico's priority. Good luck to him.

Thanks, Alfie. I've got an idea where you mean now. Here's hoping that they get the place back to its evident former glory.

No. I haven't been for quite some time, Toddy. Perhaps Salika Donga has been recently.

I saw on another forum today that there is a new leaseholder, as opposed to a new owner. Not entirely sure what difference that really makes. Anyway, hopefully re-opening soon??

What does "Bule" mean? When I first saw the name I read it as Blue Lagoon!! Must be dyslexic.

I don't know how much truth there is to it but I was once told that it was supposed to be "Blues Saloon" but the painter/sign-writer made a cock-up!

Try getting Thais to pronounce Blues and you may well be right Alfie. Chico seems to know a lot Alfie. Perhaps you should ask him.  Whatever, I'd love to see it up and running. It's bound to be busy early doors.
