Title: 52 week photo challenge
Post by: Coolkorat on December 18, 2019, 04:50:56 PM
Does anyone fancy doing a 52 week photo challenge? If there is interest it could be based on this 52 week challenge (https://www.kevmrc.com/photography-challenge) and I can look at updating the Facebook page if people want to share them that way; the Facebook page is at K-F Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/koratfarangforum/).

What is it?

It's not a competitive challenge, it's a challenge in the sense of challenging oneself. There are a series of weekly themes (see below) to be the creative challenge each week.

It is a bit daunting RDRO! But maybe you can take few of the 'themes' and see what you get. You don't need to post them; it's an entirely personal thing.

I don't even understand some of the themes!

Hi CK - just noticed those sky shots of London - crikey your drone was high - wouldn't it have got in the way of the Planes ??   ;)   Fantastic pics well done.

That 52 week challenge would take me 10 years  ::)  but go for it ! I think we all admire your skills. I've passed it on to some Friends. ATB

Ha! Luckily the drone had a pilot and 'British Airways' painted on the side: I was on my way into City airport.

They are busily extending City to create a taxiway beside the runway: I've always hated the mad charge down the runway to get to the turn area for take-off. It is a very busy airport now; almost entirely business and permanently packed. Great views of London though - always a thrill.

I don't even understand some of the themes!

To be honest I don't either. There is an explanatory text that goes with each theme which makes it a little clearer. I am hoping I can set up the calendar with the text each week: I have put in a few weeks to test if it works.

Dear CK,
I just have seen this topic right now.  :o
You began post this topic on Dec 18, so it was the first week , right? <My BD is 17 > ;D
Well, today is Feb 16, so it begins 10th week , then we should post a photo about HAPPINESS , isn't right?
I like taking photos although I'm not a good shutter but just for memories because I didn't have a camera when I was young so only opened big eyes to store them but now we have it with mobile phone.  ;D

This topic may challenge me, Thanks.

I think you can start whenever you like. I have not had the time to devote to it as much as I would like, but I hope I can really get into it, and make the Facebook page better so you can put your pictures there too.

Thanks CK,

I took some photos on Dec Jan Feb , maybe everyday.  ;D
Then I checked photos which one is matched to topic in a week.

WEEK1: STUDY,
I took tourists visit Jim Thompson Farm and they got knowledge of Thai silk.

WEEK2: SUNRISE,

They gave me a room to stay for 10 days and I woke up early then walked around to get fresh air and had seen SUNRISE.

WEEK3: NATURE,
NATURE always makes funny.

Very cute Pookie! Reminds me of when my children were little.

Having reached week 11 with a distinct lack of success, here's my first one. If I'm right, we are on Leading Lines.

I wanted to get the image with two trains (this is the end of Shepherd's Bush Central Line platforms, where the two are very close together). I was too slow and missed it!

I was staying in the Dorsett on Shepherds Bush Green. This is the bar area in the lobby. Not sure these count as Leading Lines:

wow... Hello CK ... were you in photo?
Thanks for very nice photos sharing and inspire me.

mm... I am thinking that I don't travel all week how I can get a good photo.
It becomes more challenge week , doesn't it?  ???
When I had chance to travel , I took many photos.
I should bring them back to display to others or try to get one for the challenge week.

I got a Portrait photo yesterday. I'm sorry to cheat it but I want this model and I don't know I can meet it in Portrait week.  ;D
I did many Leading Line photos, I think. I'm doing a difference in kitchen, if it works.  ;D

wow... Hello CK ... were you in photo?

Yes, that's me. I put it on Facebook and got so much abuse from my 'friends'..! :)

Thanks for very nice photos sharing and inspire me.

Thank you K Pookie, and thanks to you also.

mm... I am thinking that I don't travel all week how I can get a good photo.

I agree. We will have to look for things near to us.

It becomes more challenge week , doesn't it?  ???
When I had chance to travel , I took many photos.

Remember that things that seem ordinary to you seem very different to other people. Just seeing things like the food you eat, where you go shopping, relaxing with friends etc. can be very interesting as it your world and you are giving us access to it.

I got a Portrait photo yesterday. I'm sorry to cheat it but I want this model and I don't know I can meet it in Portrait week.  ;D
I did many Leading Line photos, I think. I'm doing a difference in kitchen, if it works.  ;D

I don't think you should worry about 'cheating'! I will have to do the same thing! It is just a learning experience, and just thinking of the right photo for the challenge is a great creative exercise.

Keep going Pookie! Great work!

WEEK 11 : LEADING LINE
I hope my idea is LEADING LINE concept.  ;D

WEEK 13 : PORTRAIT
She isn't my relative. I don't know where she lives. She just come to get in Songtaew after she sold out her vegetable in market. She is very kind and often give me some vegetable. I miss her when I don't see her come long time and I don't know if she doesn't come again. I was waiting for her many days for this PORTRAIT.

Hi Pookie

I like that portrait so much. What a life that lady has experienced. I hope you see her again. When you do, please say hello to her from me: perhaps knowing that someone thousands of km away is seeing her picture and admiring her spirit will make her day happier.

I think we are at Week 11: Spring. This is tricky for you, because the seasons are different!

I went to a local glen (we have a lot of beautiful parks here, called glens. They are usually valleys filled with nature, trees etc.). I just stopped for a few minutes and I think this picture is a little lazy of me:

While I began asking that old woman about taking her photo, I thought that she might not had been taken a photo for long time. So I said that I will send her photo for a prize. Sorry, I didn't lie to her ;D but it was a little psychology to make her give me a company. And if I meet her again, I will tell her that her photo get a prize from thousand km away , I will say Hello to her. Thanks CK,

WEEK 12 : SPRING
If I work 6am to 6pm , what is Spring in 500 meters around my house? I hope this photo make feeling like SPRING. I was thank you for no cars run on road and I was thank you for a bicycle man run to my shot.  ;D

WEEK 14 : LAUGH
Some photos, I took many shots. But this photo , I did one shot and walked back to my house. I seldom take personal photos without allowance. I didn't ask her. She didn't know but she LAUGH  ;D

WEEK 15 : RULE OF THIRDS
I bought tomatoes and it was the last one I ate. It was so cute then I should do something mm.... hold it in RULE OF THIRDS.  ;D

* Sorry for those photos were not far from my house so they may not challenge visitors. But someone said that the usual daily life views are always the challenging day.  ;D
* Sorry to hop again ;D I may enjoy taking photos. And I have much time for WEEK 16 : Power of elements  ???

Great pictures Pookie! I have not looked at the challenge for some time: you have reminded me to go back and look!

I am a member of a group on Facebook you might like (Two Photographers (https://www.facebook.com/groups/324161978550896/)). The 'Two Photographers' are both travel and interior photographers, and Tim (one of the two) regularly wins awards. The have Zoom meetings every Tuesday. I have missed today's meeting I think  :( They are very good, and I can send you the link. I can also invite you to the Facebook group because I think it might be set to private and I will need to add you.

Nice! I see something (something unsettling) in the shape of the puddle. I would be interested to see this image in black and white. If you used your mobile phone to take the picture, do you have an app called Snapseed? It is a great app to edit images. If you download it you will see a blank page with a large '+' in the middle. At the top right are three dots. Tap these. The middle option is 'Tutorials'. These are a great introduction to what Snapseed can do and very useful.

Heya. That was taken at an abandoned outdoor amphitheater at SUT. I took that with my phone.  I wish I had my z7 at the time.

Thx. That was actually a present in Snapseed. Not bad for a camera phone. I know what you mean with over doing the hdr. I wasn't sure how this would look on other peoples' screens. I'm only judging by what I see on my phone.

It has a real feeling of being a dystopian Greek theatre: the weathering, absence of people etc. Seems to be the kind of place you can return to frequently and catch many different moods.

Great images Roger - National Geographic is rightly renowned for the quality of the photography and well done to the DM for publicizing this competition. Makes me somewhat sad that the ability to travel and actually see these things is so curtailed, and probably will be for years ahead.

My house is old since I was born (>40 years) . I try to decorate as much as I can cause I have not much fund. If members has something not use can post here to donate such as small plants. I have a table. mm... I'd like to have a long bar table and 2-3 chairs on right of shop. Maybe looking good.
