Back in the good old days
« on: January 11, 2019, 04:36:40 PM »

At home way back in the good old days before I ended up permanently residing in Thailand I had a nice small collection of actual printed books , some hard back some paperbacks . To relax I would grab a book and pour a glass of wine and get lost in some other world.  ::)

The other day I was out shopping  with a friend and we popped into a book shop , although there were not many English language books for sale, just being able to physically hold a book started to bring back so many past happy memories. So I’m going to now make the effort and start a new book collection.

I know that you can download an ebook and read it on your tablet device or mobile phone , but there’s just some thing that makes holding an actual printed book in your hand feel a little special.

So any other Bookworms here , or have you gone over to the dark side and just download your
reading material .

Ken. I read actual books, (and play LP's, 45's and 78's, and watch DVD's).
Basically, I prefer old tech ! No darkside for me.

I stock up with paperbacks from Charity shops on my UK visits !

Yes I'm old school as well. I don't touch e-books. I have a substantial library of my own, about 3200 I think and increasing month by month.
Can't beat a good book.

Depends on what I am reading.

Mostly, I will use my kindle, but for authors I am a big fan of, I will buy an actual book to buy and keep. Most reference books are real books and in particular, books about art.

Otherwise, I still like browsing bookshops and will buy something if I find something that takes my fancy.

Dam12641 - that's impressive ! A lorra books  :)

Hi Ken. I was never into the 8 track scene, surprisingly. Mind you, around that time I was working for 'Magnetic Components Ltd' in Falmoulth - they were making 'heads' for Blaupunkt, Motorola at that time so I was unusually, for me, in the know, just this once.

But you can supplement your own collection, here . .  ;)

Don't do much reading but love my music. I was heartbroken when they discontinued vinyl records. Glad to see they are being produced again. Can remember when I had one of these and those inserts.
