I don't understand this mentality - FFS if you can afford a holiday, in India, at a time like this, and have a chance to get OUT, take it   >:(   Dont quibble about the price   :o   The Foreign Office has set up the flights and will loan them the money but that's not good enough for some   ::)   If they stay, I guess their Holiday insurance will be void . . .

"Brits stranded in India are "absolutely livid" after long-awaited charter flights back to the United Kingdom amid the coronavirus pandemic were priced at over £680. The Foreign & Commonwealth Office will run seven planes to take British nationals home between April 8-12. The flights will depart from Goa, Mumbai and New Delhi but the FCO has advised Brits in other states not to apply due to travel restrictions in India.

“We are all spitting fire - an Irish flight left today and they paid £420 out of their ticket price,” said Brenda Brady, 50, from Glasgow, one of thousands of Brits stranded in Goa state. Ms. Brady said that while a loan had been provided to cover costs, many elderly and vulnerable Brits refused to borrow money they would struggle to pay back. Forced to stay, they complain of being threatened with violence from the police if they leave their accommodation to buy food and water."

I had to chuckle - good try   ;)

"French police have turned back a private jet from London after a group of high-flying passengers tried to holiday on the Riviera only to be told they were breaching confinement rules. The group of seven men aged between 40 and 50 years old and three women aged between 23 and 25 years old had boarded the jet chartered in the UK capital by a Croatian man who said he worked in finance and real estate."

Crikey I had NO idea about the scale of this . .  :o

"Cruise-lovers should prepare to spend a little more time ashore, as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on Thursday that they would be extending their No Sail Order indefinitely for all cruise ships amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The new order states that cruise lines will not be allowed to disembark passengers at any U.S. port of call without direction from the U.S. Coast Guard, in consultation with the CDC, HHS and other government bodies.

Despite the earlier No Sail Order and the Cruise Lines International Association’s decision to suspend all cruise ship operations on March 13, the CDC says that there are approximately 100 cruise ships still at sea off the East Coast, West Coast and Gulf Coast of the U.S., with nearly 80,000 crew members on board At least 10 ships have reported that they have passengers and/or crew on board who have tested positive for coronavirus or have exhibited symptoms in the past few weeks
