The Daily Mail excels itself  . . . . .  insights and photos from the NW region of China . . .

''Dozens of mosques in the Muslim-dominant region of Xinjiang in western China have been demolished or partially destroyed since 2017, satellite images have revealed. Worshippers are subject to extra security checks and monitored by high-tech surveillance cameras while Muslim students must scan their faces upon entering the razor-wired gates of their primary schools. Muslim residents of heavily policed Xinjiang are facing the increasing pressure from Beijing as the ruling Communist Party tightens its control over religious activities.''

Hard to believe what IS going on in China - what can the World do about it ?
Precious little I'm afraid :(

"Chinese muslims reveal rapes, abortions and forced sterilisations 'using chilli paste' at 'concentration camps' as shocking footage emerges of hundreds of shackled and blindfolded prisoners

**Ruqiye Perhat claimed: 'Any woman or man under age 35 was raped and abused'
**Gulzira Mogdyn, 38, said that officials cut her open and ripped out her fetus
**China claimed that its authorities were carrying out 'normal judicial activities'
**Some one million Muslims are held in detention centres in Xinjiang, experts say . .

Muslim women who have fled China's 'concentration camps' have revealed a world of rapes, abortions and sterilisations as they find refuge abroad. It comes as shocking footage emerged allegedly showing hundreds of shackled and blindfolded Muslim prisoners being transferred in Xinjiang, western China. UN experts and activists say at least one million ethnic Uighurs and other Muslims are held in the detention centres in Xinjiang.

China describes them as 'training centres' helping to stamp out extremism and give people new skills. But the escaped women and local rights groups say attempts to curb the Muslim population - using methods such as rubbing chilli paste on women's privates - are common

. . . . that's what John Oliver says anyway  ;)

Worth watching from 1 min 20 secs in - heartache and torture for a million Muslims in China's internment camps and forced labour for Nike and Volkswagen. Thailand's next door but one neighbour, may not prove to be a nice bedfellow as time goes on. CK re. recent discussions, let's hope Thailand can stay in a USA sphere of influence.

The 'comedy' breaks can be painful but this is gripping. https://youtu.be/17oCQakzIl8

I watched this last night Roger. I did know about this, and the section where the CEO of VW is asked about the issue and claims to know nothing is unbelievable (i.e. one cannot believe he doesn't know).

I also watched a Panorama programme about how China allowed Covid 19 to spread (and how those in China warning about it have vanished) was equally shocking. We've spent too long viewing China as a benign proto-superpower.
