Hi guys

Does any body know when we can go and renew my driving license. I have a 5 yr one which expired on April 22 . Went to the office and was told no problem come back later.
Also wanted to know if anything had changed with the procedures. I’m 67 hrs old now. Is the medical place still next door to the building so we can get certificate

About the medical it has moved to the next block down accross the little soi from the old office, which is now a car repair-oil change facility.

As I understand it Ollie - the Driving Licence offices were closed because of CV-19 concerns but Drivers were told not to worry and renew later. If you look around you'll find more details.

This contrasts with the 'MOT' / Tax function which is open atm - I noticed the service much quicker than usual last week - they try to get you out of the door again quickly  8)

1. Can anybody confirm this is still so? A Google Maps placemark would be appreciated if possible. Please KC, if you are reading, what did you mean by "old office"?

2. Does anybody know if this new rule announced from February 2021 changed anything with regards to the medical requirement, because I'm puzzled: https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1205848-medical-certificates-now-mandatory-for-driving-licenses-and-new-car-purchases-in-thailand/

HI Anton,
As Far as I am aware I have always needed a “medical Certificate” from a Dr to get a DL.
For the “Old office”, this was situated right next to the Transport office in Joh Ho

Here are the coordinates for the Dr’s Office last one next to the little soi.

Hope this helps  KC

Thank you KC, much appreciated. If by medical certificate they mean the quick 100 baht form, there's no problem. I just hope they won't ask me again for a full medical check up including x-rays of my chest, as it was the case two years ago for my first Thai driving licenses.

Your welcome Anton,

I have never had to produce such test, I remember the first time I went and the Lady on the 1st floor of the transport office, even pointed to the Dr's office where I could get the "Dr's Certificate", seemed strange as long as you could walk in and your hart was pumping blood you got a piece of paper with the Dr's signature.
