haha. i saw that yesterday. for a commercial, it's pretty funny.

splitting the bill in thailand is pretty unheard of. traditionally, the older / wealthiest person pays the entire bill.

i try to make sure i am never the oldest person in a group, but even then... as a white person, sometimes people just assume i'll pay.
frustrating. and then if you ask thai people to split the bill, they get sad and uncomfortable and upset.

I beg to differ ; splitting the bill is a normal occurrence

when colleagues go for lunch, someone will collect from each one and pay to the vendor ;

when friends go for dinner and drinks, they also split the bill ; amount divided by the number of persons

heard of "American share? ?

i've never seen thai people do that in thailand, sulsano. of course, korat is a lot different than bangkok.
folks in bangkok have been exposed to more western ideas. but here in the country... not so much.

that's strange ........

please note that I am saying "when having dinner with friends and not with members of the family";

although I foot the bill, those present in the dinner would also chip in some cash for the dinner
