Tiger Woods is subject to discipline by the PGA Tour for kicking his golf club after a poor shot at the Masters.

Whether he is fined is not likely to be known. The PGA Tour does not comment on discipline.

Woods, after a bad miss with a 4-iron into the 15th hole on Friday, hit a poor tee shot with a 9-iron on the par-3 16th. He let the club fall from his hands, then turned and kicked it 15 yards.

According to tour policy, players can be disciplined for conduct unbecoming a professional even in tournaments that are co-sponsored or approved by the PGA Tour.

The tour is so secret about its discipline than when John Daly once told The Associated Press he had been suspended for six months, the tour still would not confirm it.

Bubba Watson wins Masters

Home town favourite Bubba Watson defeated Louis Oosthuizen on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff to win the 76th Masters golf tournament.

Watson pulled off a daring escape shot on the second hole of sudden death, then two-putted for par and the green jacket. It was Watson's first career major title.

Watson broke down in tears after the victory, while Oosthuizen managed a graceful interview.

"It was a great day," said Oosthuizen. "I had a lot of fun. ... It's not like I played badly."

For Tiger Woods, the long road back to the top looks further away than ever.

Just two weeks after he won his first PGA Tour event in more than two a half years, Woods slumped to his worst-ever finish at the Masters.

The American finished his favourite tournament at five-over-par after struggling all week. He failed to break 72 in any of his four rounds and closed with a 74, completing his worst performance at Augusta National since he turned professional.

"I didn't hit the ball very good this week," he told reporters.
