Mrs Alfie made some fantastic fish and chips this evening and served a salad with it. In the salad there was a green leaf that I had never eaten before. Its taste was somewhere between Rocket and Horseradish or English mustard. It was very nice. Mrs Alfie says it's called "Pak Gaat-kiaw" (ผักกาดเขียว). A Google search finds it's called Mustard Greens, which seems suitable. It was 5 baht for a bunch of it at the local market.

(Mrs Alfie thinks there are 2 varieties of this plant but she couldn't think of the different names).

This is an old thread but I couldn't resist replying to it this evening after just finishing an excellent meal that Mrs Alfie cooked.

Roast leg of lamb, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, gravy and home-made mint sauce. Delicious.  :)

I bought the lamb from Foodland in Terminal 21.

A cautionary tale about a local dish. Myself I don't enjoy raw fish of any kind but if you do, it might be good to know this.  :o
