Thanks Anton,

I did hear of the book many years ago when I was growing up in Aotearoa, (Maori for NZ, Translates to "Land of the long white cloud")

But unfortunately I have not read it, I will try to see if I can get it on line.

Shortly after 11 am this morning I was waiting in line at the Big C traffic light, coming from Yamo going towards The Mall. Immediately to my right there were 2 students on a scooter, and beyond them a tuk tuk attached by double rope to a car, as for towing it. As the line started moving, and the tuk tuk with it, naturally the ropes stretched out, so much that one of them suddenly got torn off with a slash and went very close to the students, perhaps even touching one of them. The tuk tuk driver uttered out something aloud ("Wow!") and kept going. Just after the crossing he moved to the fast lane, maybe with the intention of turning at the next traffic light.

Last week I was cycling in the same direction on Mitthapap, early afternoon. Opposite The Mall, just before reaching the entrance to their external parking lot, a pickup that was circulating in the same direction next to me suddenly lost a long metal rod of the kind they use to mount scaffolding for buildings, like those in the photo below. It was at least 2 m long. It got immediately stuck under the front wheels of the following vehicle and dragged along for a good 20 m before that vehicle managed to stop. Much noise and confusion but nobody hurt.

I was wondering when that would happen. We use this road during rush hour to get to the mall.

I can only say that I took the photo at around 3 pm, I didn't see it happening, I don't know at what time it happened.

You seem to be everywhere with that camera of yours Anton, did you used to be a reporter in your day?

Never, HL. It's the miracles of technology: I'm just using my phone... Everybody can be a photoreporter today.

This road is notorious for accidents due to its straight nature and bad driving of the local population. In the past year there have been at least 2 cars driven into the river at the Homepro end and there always white paint lines on the road somewhere showing the outline of a motorbike or car(s). The main set of traffic lights are a bad place as well, so many people try to overtake or undertake just to jump the queue and save a couple of minutes.

It's a busy stretch of road with a lot of junctions so there's bound to be a lot of accidents. Junctions are a weakness of the the Thai driving "method". Also, coming off the bypass heading towards the Mall there's a sharp bend as the road crosses the irrigation canal and the road splits into two single lanes. The first time my wife drove along there, she almost took the wrong lane. Luckily I was there to tell her to stop before we had a head on crash!

Today on Mitrapap Road, I saw two accidents within a mile of each other. There's bound to be many more in the next 7 days!

The Workpoint's News Youtube channel offers everyday new videos of accidents on Thai roads as recorded by surveillance cameras and private dashcams, taken from their daily news broadcasts. Here are just a few recent ones among those involving motorcycles: beware of harsh scenes. First one from yesterday, others in reverse chronological order. Workpoint's News - ข่าวเวิร์คพอยท์ is a general entertainment TV channel, now set at no. 1 in KCTV's standard list.

Twice now. Coming south on H106 from Ban Hong to Ban Pang in darkness.
A dimly lit pick up driving ahead of me in the middle of the road - sheltering an unlit motorbike swerving all over both lanes - the driver drunk I suppose.
Then yesterday, a pick up ahead and when I managed to pass safely, it revealed another motorbike all over the road, but this driver had his wife and a baby on board as well.
(It's 2 way traffic on this road). Shocking just shocking.

A car with Nakhon Ratchasima plates refuses giving way to an emergency vehicle. It reminded me of an old "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" episode, titled "Road Hog" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0508237/?ref_=ttep_ep11).

Poor show from the car driver but the ambulance driver wasn't much better. He could have easily passed the car and he could have shut his mouth instead of polluting the ambulance with unnecessary noise. He was also driving too close to the car in front.

Driving that close is so dangerous another accident waiting to happen.
If at first you don't succeed you are clearly not cut out for it. Give up and move on.

This was just uploaded so I suppose it happened today. Location should be on road 226, connecting Korat to Buriram, about 2 and 1/2 km after the Hua Thale fork direction Buriram. That's near a PTT station and almost in front of Ban Non Farang Health Centre. Keep an eye on the black car coming down from the right side at 0:41.

This happened last night in Joho (?). Camera timer obviously set wrong. Notice how recklessly motorcycle overtakes on the left before the crash.

Motorcycle passenger who flew over the car is a 3-month pregnant woman. According to first examinations at Maharat Hospital, fetus would be unharmed; time will tell over next 3 days. If I understand well, witness providing this video is a professional nurse. See her walking to the scene at 0:37 and running back to the car at 1:06.

Can anybody identify the temple in the background?

At 0:12 a man is heard talking in English (?) in the car, probably the same man seen entering from the left at 2:41. A K-F member maybe?

No, it was on Mukkramonti downtown, next to Toffee store and in front of Wat Nong Chabok, seen on the background. Car with dashcam is waiting inside what should be Soi Mukkramonti 3.

Here's the link for Google Street map view of the location.

https://www.google.co.th/maps/@14.9721895,102.0702317-soi prasopsuk

It's a nice looking temple.

The man sounds Scottish. The Thai text gives a common Scottish surname for the woman - Anderson.
