Driving on the coast road from Cha am towards Samut Songkhran it's fascinating to see tens of miles  of constructed salt flats and the intensive extraction of salt from the sea. 90% of the salt is used in Industries including fishing - apparently the curtailing of illegal fishing recently has affected demand.
The salt farms are also suffering because younger generations are reluctant to do the very demanding work - immigrant labour is being used increasingly.
I've tried to read up about this on the Internet before but didn't find too much.
An excellent report and photos today, courtesy of 'News Now' from the BKK Post.

Salt in Thailand is a topic I am interested in, probably because of the salt factory in Phimai. A different kind of salt extraction.
