At our local shop, (also my beer stop), just the other evening, our Thai Friends brought what looked like a small bale of tobacco to the table. Bound in plastic, apparently these were leaves from a tree, tightly packed together and presumably fermented as it was blackish in colour - the bale had been buried underground for a year or so.

Being a bit reserved about the food I eat, I declined to partake in the delicacy. I couldn't find out which tree the leaves were from.

I wondered if any other K-F's know anything about this ?

Interesting to hear about any other unusual delicacies too !
