Another tryout, pictures from The Gambia taken in 2000 with the older Olympus 500 Mju camera.

Test, pictures from a recent trip up North. I either get pictures in this format or too big. Anyway if you click on the picture it looks better.

Stunning pictures Robert. Please post more. If those were just a test, what more do you have!

Thanks for the compliments, appreciated. Two years ago I bought this Olympus TG-4 and hardly used it. This time I took it with me and tried to use it more often. Have some old photo's taken with Olympus 500. Many many years ago I used an Olympus OM 2.

Olympus is famed for their optical quality. Your photos are proof Robert, but however good the equipment, it is your eye that has captured these wonderful pictures. Fab. Please post more.

I find taking pictures at this time of year a particular challenge: short days, poor light etc. Here are some recent images:

The first four are in Ballaglass Glen. These guys were climbing up the river for fun. It was freezing...

DSCF6007" border="0
DSCF6008" border="0
DSCF6009" border="0

No.1 Daughter at the wizard sculpture (apologies it is blurry in the first picture: I was using a totally manual lens and, being so used to the camera doing the thinking, forgot to change the aperture).

DSCF6011" border="0
DSCF6013" border="0

When No.1 Son was swimming we walked, and had coffee in a place with beautiful decorative plates on the wall:

The reason for our trip to Ballaglass Glen - to see the 'fairy' houses created by a Swedish art collective. Amazing things: created in Sweden and brought without any motive other than pleasure. Truly wonderful things.
IMG-20190106-200835-819" border="0

On the 27th December there was a sponsored swim in memory of a wonderful lady (and great supporter of swimming) who sadly died of cancer at a young age. This is No.1 Daughter in the pool with various senior level swimmers (including one member of Team GB, the lady on the left). I foolishly agreed to swim, and when I arrived was pointed to the lane with this lot (the adults) in it. I declined. No.1 Daughter is a better swimmer than me at 9 years old. Swim with Team GB swimmers? No thanks. A pal did swim in this lane (and he's a decent swimmer). He told me these guys said to him "just keep swimming and don't worry about us - we'll swim UNDER you. And they did. He swam his best-speed freestyle, and they simply went under him.....

London in the 1920's. Seems more like 200 years ago than 100  ;)

My ole' Dad was born in 1920 - can't believe this is the times he lived in  ???

What is interesting is the number of jobs that simply do not exist now. There are doomsday predictions about the loss of jobs (see https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/09/27/jobs-risk-automation-according-oxford-university-one/), but clearly this was the case 100 years ago also.

We were in Manchester for a swim comp this weekend. Manchester is an odd city: much smaller but more threatening than London. It really came into focus when we had a coffee in Café Nero and realized it had a security guard. Every single shop had a security guard. There is everything you could need, but an undercurrent of mistrust. But the Asian influence is incredible. We were in 'Little Korea' and the money pouring in is clear. If you have the funds buy in Manchester: it will be amazing once the building is sorted and they get to grips with the crime and drugs.

I lived in Manchester for 50yrs and never heard of "Little Korea".
Must be a recent development?

Loved the photo of The Pev though.  8)

It's the area around Oxford Road station right in the heart of the university(ies) district. We went into a Korean supermarket among many other Korean shops and restaurants. There is so much building going on around there: the skyline is changing, and the streets are full of Asians (clearly Korean or Japanese). It is something to see. Manchester is becoming a global hub for education: a fantastic transformation and probably the biggest student population in Europe. But Manchester City Council needs to address the issues at a social level to transform the city into a place people feel safe. At the moment it feels distinctly dodgy.

Hi Robert, it is https://imgbb.com. There is a K-F account of you don't want to create your own (I can PM the details). Imgbb makes it easier to resize the images. There is more about this in a post on the Photos board.

Hi CK,

I checked the image of a photo I posted earlier and noticed ImgBB. Looked on internet and found it. Have added photo's to Condo for rent. Also put website in favorites so cannot forget anymore. Have to use HTML version, if I remember correctly? Then copy URL's into reply.

Thanks for your advice.

We spent a few days in the Lake District last week. It rained....

In the odd break in the clouds I got a few pictures. We went to the Pencil Museum, which sounds dull but was brilliant. Who knew the phrase 'Black Market' comes from smuggling graphite when it was worth more than gold in the 1650's and was transported and stored in the Tower of London? And that there was a real 'Q' in WW2 who commissioned Derwent to create pencils with hidden maps and compasses?

Great photos ;D

The clouds in the photo one from last in your post look like a map of the Americas.

Just back from a brief trip to Switzerland. Zurich is a great city but shockingly expensive. I brought back two boxes of chocolates (600 grms each); 5025 baht. Gulp.

CK some pictures of familiar territory . . .

https://www.theguardian.com/isle-of-man-travel/gallery/2019/feb/18/from-avalon-to-the-aurora-borealis-the-isle-of-man-in-pictures

Strangely familiar Roger! The first one is Peel and the castle which is part of the lap I do when no.1 son is swimming.

As an aside, if anyone wants kippers let me know: I can pop into Moore's (the kipper factory) and get them sent. They are vacuum-packed. If easier, I can message Nookie to see if he would take a larger box and break into pairs.

This is not ocean , it is sky  ;D
You wake up very early and drive up to see sun rise but someday you don't see sun rise , you see cloud instead.
... you can get one , you can't get all ... but everyone wants all ...  :)
