New truck rest area opens in Nakhon Ratchasima
« on: May 07, 2018, 06:04:06 PM »

The Ministry of Transport has opened a new truck rest area for drivers in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima. The facility is the country's second rest area designed in compliance with the safety standards.

Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith has inaugurated the new truck rest area at the weight control station in Non Sung district. Covering an area of 21 acres, the rest area boasts parking lots for 86 trucks and 69 private cars, eight rest pavilions and 61 restrooms. The facility is also equipped with security cameras and lighting to ensure safety for people.

The Ministry of Transport plans to build 41 truck rest areas across the country within 15 years to prevent the risk of criminal assault on motorists, lessen traffic accidents related to fatigue, and to foster regional connectivity and logistics following the arrival of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
